This section describes how to install a new or upgraded version of the Voyager system on your Web server. The Voyager installation wizard guides you through the required steps for a standard or custom installation. The installation process loads all Voyager modules for which you have purchased a Yardi software license. Voyager installation folders include the installation wizard and all required system files. Also included are procedures for downloading and installing Microsoft .NET Framework v1.1, required for Voyager installation and operation.

You can copy the Voyager installation files to a network server or shared network drive. Administrators can then install the system from the network to your organization's Web servers. This installation method can be more efficient for your organization if you have purchased Voyager software licenses for more than one Web server, or when the servers are at off-site or remote locations.

Do not use the built-in Windows archive-extraction utility to unpack Voyager installation files, as the Voyager file dates may not be accurately written. You can use a third-party utility, such as WinZip or WinRAR.

If you are using a service pack or plug-in to upgrade an existing Voyager installation, skip this procedure and see Chapter 9, “Voyager Service Pack and Plug-in Installation.” Voyager system installation and operation require a valid Yardi software license. When you purchased the Voyager system, you received a license file. The file includes information about the products that you have purchased, the number of user licenses, and your contract dates. If you require a Unicode version of Voyager (and you plan to use a Unicode database), verify that you have a Unicode version of the Yardi software license.
