Activating YSL
If your operating system is Microsoft Windows 98, you must activate YSL once for each workstation where Excel is installed. Activating YSL means adding Yardi_DBLink.xla as an Excel add-in.
All other versions of Windows support user-specific settings on a system. Each individual user (anyone who has a unique logon) must perform this activation process before they can use YSL. You must also activate YSL if your workstation is the designated server for Conductor.
If, after you activate either YSL Classic or YSL.Net, the message “Security Warning: Macros have been disabled” appears at the top of the Excel screen, Excel macros are disabled and YSL functions will not be available when you right-click in a cell. You must enable Excel macros to make the YSL functions available. For more information, see “To enable macros: YSL.Net”.
To activate YSL: YSL Classic
The following procedure is illustrated using Excel 2000-2003. If you use a version of Excel other than 2000-2003, the commands and screens may be different from those described in this procedure.

From the Excel top menu, select Tools > Add-Ins. The Add-Ins screen appears.

Click Browse and locate the Yardi_DBLink.xla file.
You placed a copy of Yardi_DBLink.xla in the default path as part of the installation process. For more information, see “Installing YSL for Use with Enterprise: YSL Classic” or “Installing YSL for Use with Voyager”.

Click OK. The Add-Ins screen appears again, showing Yardi_DBLink as one of the available add-ins.

If a message appears, asking you to copy Yardi_DBLink.xla to the standard Add-In folder, click No.

Select the Yardi_DBLink check box.

Click OK.
To activate YSL: YSL.Net
The following procedure is illustrated using Excel 2010. If you use a version of Excel other than 2010, the commands and screens may be different from those described in this procedure.

From the Excel top menu, click File.

From the side menu, click Options. The Excel Options screen appears.

From the side menu, click Add-Ins.

In the Manage field, select Excel add-ins.

Click Go. The Add-Ins screen appears.

If Yardi_DBLink appears in the list, select the Yardi_DBLink check box.

If Yardi_DBLink does not appear in the list:
a
Click Browse and locate the Yardi_DBLink.xla file.
You can download the latest version of Yardi_DBLink.xla from Client Central. Save the file anywhere on your computer.

Click OK. The Add-Ins screen appears.

If a message appears, asking if you want to copy Yardi_DBLink.xla to the standard Add-In folder, click No.

Select the Yardi_DBLink check box.

Click OK. The Microsoft Excel Security Notice appears.

Click Trust all from publisher.
Before you click this button, ensure that your network administrator or your corporate IT policies allow you to grant such trust.

If you want to confirm that Yardi is now a trusted publisher:

From the Excel top menu, click File.

From the side menu, click Options. The Excel Options screen appears.

From the side menu, click Trust Center, then click Trust Center Settings. The Trust Center screen appears.

From the side menu, click Trusted Publishers. The following screen appears.
To enable macros: YSL.Net
The following procedure is illustrated using Excel 2010. If you use a version of Excel other than 2010, the commands might be different from those described in this procedure.

From the Excel top menu, click File.

From the side menu, click Options. The Excel Options screen appears.

From the side menu, click Trust Center.

Click Trust Center Settings. The Trust Center screen appears.

From the side menu, click Macro Settings. Select the appropriate setting. Yardi recommends that you select Disable all macros except digitally signed macros.

Click OK.
